SHE WAS TRYING TO OPEN UP A NEW RESTAURANT. DAN: INSIDE THE FORMER LOCATION OF HOPS AND DOUGH RESTAURANT IN INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH, THERE’S NOT A WHOLE LOT LEFT. POLICE BELIEVE TARA ZYSSET STOLE MUCH OF WHAT WAS IN HER OWN RESTAURANT. DAVID BUTLER: WHEN THE BUSINESS WENT BELLY-UP HERE, SHE ALLEGEDLY TOOK SOME OF THOSE ITEMS AND WENT TO MISSOURI, WHERE SHE WAS TRYING TO OPEN UP ANOTHER BUSINESS. DAN: POLICE SAY WHILE ZYSSET OWNED THE BUSINESS, SHE DID NOT OWN A LOT OF THE EQUIPMENT. THEY BELIEVE SHE STOLE 12 TELEVISIONS, A STANDUP FREEZER, AND A DEEP FRYER, ALL OF THEM LEASED FROM SOMEONE ELSE. THE ALLEGED THEFTS FOLLOWED COMPLAINTS THAT LED TO THE RESTAURANT’S CLOSURE IN MARCH. HOPS AND DOUGH CLOSED IN THE MONTHS AFTER, AND THE CITY POSTED A MESSAGE THEY COULD NOT BE OPENED BECAUSE OF CODE VIOLATION. RECORDS SHOW ZYSSET HAD ALREADY APPLIED FOR LICENSES TO OPEN A RESTAURANT IN MISSOURI. WHEN THE EQUIPMENT THEFTS WERE REPORTED AND ZYSSET DISAPPEARED, FORMER EMPLOYEES HELPED AN INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH DETECTIVE FIND HER. DAVID BUTLER: SHE WAS ABLE TO INTERVIEW QUITE A FEW PEOPLE AND THEN GOT A TIP WHERE SHE WAS POSSIBLY STAYING, CONTACTED AUTHORITIES DOWN THERE. DAN: ZYSSET IS CHARGED WITH GRAND THEFT AND WAS RELEASED ON BAIL TODAY.
