Say hello to one of the world’s most luxurious
hotels. This is The 13 in Macau and it’s being built
at a cost of $1.4 billion. The Baroque inspired palace will have 200
suites each measuring on average 2,000 square feet. Each room cost a whopping $7 million to build. Gold leaf cornicing, marble roman bath (with
space for 8) velvet curtains and elaborate paintings – all come standard. So does 24 hour butler service and a fleet
of 30 Rolls Royce Phantoms that can take guests wherever they want. Rumor has it that the most expensive suite
will cost $100,000 a night. The 13 is being built by Chinese billionaire
Stephen Hung who is chairman of Louis 13th Holdings. But with rooms costing tens of thousands of
dollars a night, it may be tough to find guests in this gambling mecca. Macau’s economy shrunk by 14.% last year
and hasn’t grown since June 2014. There’s been a sharp decline in visitors
to the island’s casinos because of an anti-graft campaign and a slowdown in China’s economy. So if you fancy a night at the 13 – you
better start saving. Phil Han, CNBC.
