Hi, my name is Andrea Castellini, I’m from Monaco and I am a Glion student. I’m doing my first internship at the Nobu Hotel Shoreditch in London, as a commis waiter in the F&B department. During my first semester in Glion I’ve learned a lot, especially during the two-week courses in the Bellevue fine dining restaurant. I’ve learned a lot about service etiquette being professional. And I’ve got a lot of those skills and brought them here to a much bigger five-star hotel. The Lanesborough Hotel is a five-star hotel. It’s one of the most prestigious hotels in the world. This internship is a challenge for me. Here I depend on what I learned in Glion in terms of guest relations, knowledge and services. I decided to do Guest Services in a big hotel like this one, that has 1,019 rooms. I think that this department really helped me with a learning experience, because I now know how different departments work. The reason I chose my internship here in London is because we are at the heart of the hospitality industry. The hotel is based on Park Lane, along with the other five-star luxury hotels. Here at the Nobu I learned a lot, especially the family style service and the Japanese-Peruvian cuisine. It’s a really great experience for me to work in Mosimann’s restaurant, and it’s a great opportunity in my career. I’ve been able to meet new people and work with different cultures, and I’ve really enjoyed this first experience of working in a five-star luxury hotel. I’m planning to do my second internship in sales and marketing, to better understand what customers want. Thanks to Glion, you can find the golden keys for your future career.
